Everything else. Seriously. All employees are overworked and paid under industry standards. Additionally, many benefits are being chopped. Day to day operations are monotonous and mindless. Everything is done with fake enthusiasm just well enough to not get fired. If you are someone who takes pride in their work, be prepared to be demoralized. Independent thought and innovation is usually stiffled through refusal to move from old technology and practices. Backroom deals dominate corporate decisions. One example is the use of Okidata B4600 printers for industrial-like printing. They require frequent replacement and cannot handle the volume of printing they are being used for. Equipment is often purchased due to relationships between company executive boards and not performance or bid price. Most middle managers are also unfamiliar with the job functions of their subordinates and only know the company's policies. The few managers that know anything are worked to death in order to cover for their incompetent peers. Opportunities for professional development are next to zero as most "certifications" are of the company's own design and not recognized by the industry as a whole. Time off is also a joke as it is against policy to carry more than 30 hours per working year into the next year. One of the biggest problems is the company's complete indoctrination into the "six sigma" way of thinking. Everything is statics driven and not human. It is run much like a machine with no regard to human factors. Motorola developed six sigma in the 1980s and did well in the short term. Motorola has thus continued to loose stock value despite its dedication to six sigma. Quest is in the same boat. "Leaning out" may help with certain ROI factors, but to the detriment of company morale. This morale continues to decline with each "six sigma" based decision.

-Lowest salary in the area, other companies starting pay for my field is what im making now after 8 or 9 years. -CPAP, the company cytology evaluation program is designed to make it impossible to succeed, even when maxing out on workload -work environment is extremely punitive. there is no recognition for good work, no bonuses. -management caters to new people, and makes more senior people feel invaluable.
