Now a part of Dell...

Pros

Dell Software (formerly Quest Software) has friendly and intelligent people to work with, globally renowned software and is conveniently located with spacious offices in Southbank, with a decked out kitchen and fruit delivered regularly. The presidents club for those who hit or exceed target is a nice perk also.

Cons

Very frustrating red tape, particularly since the acquisition by Dell. It is a very arduous process for quoting customers and completing orders, which causes customer dissatisfaction and a bad buying experience. I sympathize for customers who have gone through our strict order processing rules - buying software should not be so difficult and painful. The compensation is not that flash unfortunately and I've had no career planning with management which is a bit disappointing.

Pros

Quest is now part of Dell Software Group, the future of Dell, so there is some security if you are on the right product team for the future. Some very good people in the right places. Some very good products in the right places. Some perks, good benefits, decent pay. Annual sales kickoff in Vegas doesn't hurt either.

Cons

Pay / total comp / benefits are below industry peers, especially the smaller faster growing competition. Dell is not willing to get competitive because there are 200 resumes waiting to fill your spot for less pay. I left for a much smaller competitor for a lot more money and flexibility. Lot of dead weight middle management. Lot of layers. Lot of dead weight bottom level sales people and long-time Quest (or acquisition) employees that should have been cut ages ago. Which means that top people could be compensated and treated better if you cut the fat and focused. Products take way too long to improve and launch new releases. Way behind industry trends and innovations.
