Great place to start.

Pros

RRD is a global company and there are several opportunities for advancement if you are willing to relocate. You will have to be patient and put in your time. Decisions are not made quickly.

Cons

Being in the manufacturing industry means that money is tight. There are not a lot of perks like PTO, raises, or benefits.

Good pay, crappy management

Pros

The hours were flexible, especially helpful for someone going to school during the day. They have shifts all day and night, although the day shifts are reserved for those who have worked there the longest. The training was great (in my opinion, though I noticed others struggled a bit--older folks and those less comfortable with computers) and once trained you are thrown in with the rest. It's stressful at first but the shift leads are very helpful and always ready to share their knowledge.

Cons

The evening/night management was horrible. I felt like hiding whenever the manager came by even though I was a stellar employee. The manager made me feel like he would never be satisfied with your performance--kind of a twisted motivation technique which makes employees feel extremely under appreciated.

Pros

Great work/life balance. Can work from home. Little to no oversight by my supervisor...I go months without speaking to her. (knock, knock) never hear of layoffs. Work load is usually light. Supervisors and senior management in my department are really nice people who I would enjoy putting my best food forward for if everything else in the company wasn't so horrendous.

Cons

No career progression. No career path. No employee feed back. No 401K match. Dental plan costs $1,000 a year. Health insurance kicks in AFTER you meet a $6,500 deductible. Premiums went up 37% last year. Universal 1% annual raises. Annual bonuses are $300 across the entire company. Corporate morale is horrendous. No parties, happy hour, company sponsored events, etc. The only corporate correspond sent are about occupational safety (I have a desk job) or some HR-sponsored "get fit" campaigns. No allotted sick days. Takes FOREVER to get anything done and way too much red tape to pass through.
