Pros

- Free, big company car park - Good salary and pension - A not-too complicated interview process

Cons

- In this global pandemic which has brought about stress due to several uncertainties, things in the RAC have gotten a lot worse. Target setters and decision-makers have lost sight of their human side by setting harsh targets and very unrealistic expectations. Therefore there are no real positive actions or considerations for their employees' mental well-being. This pandemic will go away one day but people will remember the impact on them mentally and the burn-out they experienced working here when things go back to normal in the world. - People don't quit their jobs, they quit their management. There is a lack of trust in management; this is exactly what a lot of people who've quit, Glassdoor reviewers, and even current staff will explain to anyone new walking through the door. New starters soon realise that they need to set their expectations incredibly low. - Ironically, decision-makers are unable to make decisions they can stick to. This funnels down and halts change and innovation, thereby killing staff morale and creating a mundane work atmosphere. - Minimum training and career development: This reflects on how you are valued as an employee. The budget assigned for staff training is laughable at most. Management fails to see training as an investment that could address weaknesses, increase performance and produce quality standards. It is a true stone-cold corporate system where beating their competition and profit is more valued than its own people. - Workplace politics here is surreal. The right people and/or tools are not employed due to this. This also applies to job promotions. You may find yourself working here for years and be financially stagnant. I have also seen colleagues being shunned due to the type of company culture that exists. Before accepting a job here I had read reviews on Glassdoor, which at the time had an even lower star rating, but I was hopeful that maybe things were not as bad as what people wrote and maybe every department was different. But honest truth it is a lot worse, and widespread. I would definitely not recommend this company to other job seekers I know or even on here.

Pros

Good earning potential with overtime and sometimes hugely increased rates of pay for it. WITH GOOD REASON!! This job, this place is AWFUL! You will take abuse from members all day long with zero support or escalation process from anyone. The training is vague to say the least. The systems are outdated and terrible to use. The perm or long term staff hate all newbies/temp starters. The Stretford office isn't the most welcoming of environments largely due to the long term staff! (I think it's because they lose overtime hours when sharing it with newbies). Despite the option to furlough staff during C-19 pandemic they got rid of every single employee that was temping or on a probationary period with RAC.. no matter how good your stats were etc... making probably thousands across all sites unemployed needlessly. After 3-6 mnths earned benefits with company. Full RAC Breakdown cover given.

Cons

Zero job security. Stressful job. No support. Poor training. Unfriendly environment. No career progression.
