Pros

High level of autonomy, management aren't hovering over you all the time as they believe that if you don't work, then you're taking money out of your own pocket and that true.

Cons

Pay plan is significantly less desirable in practice than what was described in the interview process. The main reason is that management is only concerned with volume and not the gross. The second reason is that the owner of the store contracts reconditioning to his auto body shop at exorbitant costs. This makes it to where at full price, used cars often only have $1,000 or less in profit. A coworker recently bought a car that was destined for wholesale, management knew he wanted it, so they forced him to recondition the car through them, agreed on a profitable price point, then raised it by another $1,500 while he was in the finance office because the owner decided that it was too cheap to sell to an employee. Lastly, the pay across the board is low, so we have lost our GM, lot attendants, and receptionists within the last 2-3 months. These positions aren't being filled for whatever reason and it's been putting a strain on the entire sales staff. It is impossible to earn promotions and move up into leadership as ownership/management exclusively hire from outside. So if you would like to do the lot attendant's job (move, gas, and clean sold cars), be treated poorly by management who's main focus is on their own earnings and replacing you when you understandably leave, and earn a light paycheck for the amount of work and hours (60h/wk), then this job is perfect for you. Also, the benefits here aren't very aggressive and the healthcare insurance is the most expensive employer provided insurance I've seen yet.
