Pros

Ok benefits. Good 401k match. More laid back than typical sell side trading floors.

Cons

Technology is a mess. Everyone is a manager or director or head of something. Someone's title can have little bearing on their actual job -sort of ridiculous.

Pros

Experienced leadership. Compensation is decent. Interesting niche clientele.

Cons

A small bank with the overhead of a large bank due to the relationship with the parent. Expect long hours and a what are you doing for me tomorrow attitude. Advancement is difficult as external candidates seem to be preferred to internal candidates. Little time for development opertunities due to the heavy regular work load. At no other company have I seen office politics as cut throat as RBC.

Pros

Many have worked at RBC for over 25 years. Small and trying to catchup to other I-Banks so pockets of entrepreneurialism still exist. Can make an imprint in areas and product groups that still need development.

Cons

I agree with the prior posts about senior management and promotions for multiple roles globally going to Canadians as well as the notable gender bias presented under the veneer of 'RBC nice'.
