Awful Experience

Pros

Great Benefits, and easy to get to offices and locations

Cons

Incoherent policies that seem to change every 6 months. Employees are out for themselves and managers are absent or non-existent. Your career path is based on who you know and not on your talent. The inclusiveness and progressiveness of the Canadian head office does not seem to apply to the US entities. Witnessed many episodes of discriminatory behavior against minorities and homophobia which were never addressed by the managers. Bullying is rampant and the managers are not never around and don't seem to care. Career path is very limited and although the benefits are good, they don't pay very well. Most people seem to leave in 1-2 years.

Pros

Free coffee, casual Fridays, early dismissal on holiday weekends. And free lunch if your clients didn't eat during your meeting you get their leftovers.

Cons

Extremely shady business decisions - 2 group heads were replaced by a new team from another bank without their knowledge. They were notified by clients that they were being replaced. Management did not even have the decency to notify them. Bankers are let go very often before you can bond with them. High turnover in analysts due to very long hours 9am-2am-ish. Your contract will not be renewed if you didn't brown nose. Overnighters happen often. And do not complain about anything to management because that's a problem for them and gives them extra work. MD's are either poor or amazing, very inconsistent. There are only a handful of people that are willing to be genuine mentors. Please DO NOT WORK HERE.
