Pros

REI has excellent benefits and good career stability. The customer base is strong. The company is very strong financially. It is a leader in the outdoor industry.

Cons

REI suffers from internal focus and self satisfaction. It has lost market share to more innovative competitors. The culture is highly political and reward is as much a factor of popularity as of qualification. The work model is based on collaboration to the point of stifling progress.
