Pros

I really enjoyed working at ROI. The people are nice and the environment is extremely welcoming. They have weekly catered lunches, Team builders, Team lunches, lots of learning and training events, and food and drinks stocked for your enjoyment throughout the day. I really liked the hybrid schedule because I think it’s important to be able to interact with your team in person occasionally, but still having flexibility to work from home as well. It would be cool to have full flexibility though so you can come in or WFH based on what’s required of your schedule. The office environment is open so when you’re there you can easily turn around and ask someone a question about one of your accounts or brainstorm a better way to do something. They’ve also hired a new VP who seems to want to break down the walls between services which is a good thing. Growth could be kind of limiting previously because cross training wasn’t really encouraged but now it seems like this will be a big focus moving forward.

Cons

-High turnover can be stressful, but that's agency life! -Average pay, could be a lot more competitive -Team Leads have all been there for awhile so not too much movement if you're not in a leadership position already. If you're an IC, chances are you will not have the opportunity to move into a leadership role.

Thank you for your post! I am happy to hear you had a great experience working at ROI and enjoyed our many perks, benefits, opportunities to learn and the chance to work with truly kind team members. As you mentioned, we are focused on breaking down walls across our services. Soon, we will have a better understanding of the impact of our team structure experiments and will be able to validate if these changes increased collaboration and cross-training as we expect them to. Of course, collaboration is not the only area in which we are working to relentlessly pursue excellence. We continue to refine and evolve our compensation strategy. Earlier this year, we were happy to revise our compensation philosophy, resulting in more competitive pay and an increase in guaranteed compensation. Thank you for your suggestions on ways we can increase diversity within our teams. At ROI, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, all of which are essential to fostering a culture of joy. Simply put, we are not as diverse as I believe we can and should be. And that is disappointing, especially given our focus on DEI work over the past several years (e.g., companywide and leadership trainings on inclusion, the launch of our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, etc.). We have more work to do and we look forward to doing it. I have personally had meaningful conversations with some of our team members where we were able to talk through things in a deeper fashion and brainstorm together on this topic. I would love to have such a dialogue with you. It sounds like perhaps you’ve moved on from your role at ROI, but either way, I would love the opportunity to talk more about this with you. If you’re open to it, please reach out to me so we can find some time to connect! Best, Barbara

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback about your experience at ROI and what it’s like to work in the agency space. Working with clients across multiple industries in constantly evolving platforms lends itself to interesting/varied work and constant learning/growth, but also comes with a quicker pace that isn’t for everyone. We have built extensive new hire training programs and mentorship programs to support our team members, but it sounds like more support may still be needed, especially in entry-level roles. I would love to learn more about where we fell short in mentoring/supporting you, as well as some of the other feedback you offered, so please email me at petra@roirevolution.com if you are open to sharing more! Best, Petra

Thank you for sharing about your experience at ROI! It is great to hear that the people (including your manager), workload and flexibility were high points for you. Our compensation philosophy has evolved over time and while many changes have been made, some are still in the works. I look forward to executing those additional changes to ensure that our pay is just as competitive as those amazing benefits you mentioned! Best, Barbara
