Great environment, talented staff and a desire to change what needs to be changed - Corporate office

Pros

Talented individuals-The current and incoming staff are incredibly talented and have made a tangible impact on the culture of the organization. Corporate culture-It is never easy for a 100 year old company to change, but Schnitzer is taking the steps necessary to make the changes. From new staff, to better communication they are working towards creating an amazing organization. Technology - Technology is up to date and and the workspaces are awesome. If you have an issue with your equipment it takes hours, not days or weeks to resolve.

Cons

Change doesn't necessarily come quickly or easily. It takes time and effort to make things happen. Attitudes of some long-term employees are negative. They'd rather complain that play an active role in creating positive change.

None. A big company name on your resume.

Cons

Absolutely brutal culture, no bonus, no raise, no promotions. Please stay away from this company as they will try to screw you any ways they can, if you try to leave them. Company has 3 presidents of the Metal Recycling Unit (90% of the revenue) in Last 3 years. Last president quit without any reason according to Schnitzer Steel SEC filings. Shares are trading at a all time low.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we have had three people in that Role in a very short period of time. The first person had been in that role for 7 years, the second had been with Schnitzer for 6 years prior and had received a number of promotions before being named President. Our current MRB President was promoted into the role upon the departure of his predecessor. We were pleased in 2014 to pay out bonuses to our employees and proud of the many employees who earned their well deserved promotions and raises.

Pros

Good Benefits, good employees and fun work. I worked at both Sims Metal Management and Schnitzer. Sims in the better company

Cons

They don't have much growth,especially in management. Much of the Senior Management staff and outside buyers don't have college degrees.
