Great hospital...terrible employer

WONDERFUL physicians and staff to care for your children. If you have children and live in San Diego, this is really THE BEST place to receive healthcare whether it be for minor cold/flu symptomns or serious, life threatening diseases! RCHSD really cares about each patient and family. The medical benefits for employees are great. Probably the only PLUS I can give this place.
Cons
Each position is expected to do the work of about 5-7 individuals. Every department is completely understaffed and the responsibility each staff member is given is exponentially more than one person could ever handle in the best circumstances. When staffing levels fluctatuate due to medical leaves or other reasons, additional staff is NEVER brought in to help take up the slack and the ridiculous workload of your co-worker(s) out on maternity leave, medical leave or if anyone quits or is terminated, YOU are expected to "suck it up." However, you will not receive additional compensation or even a THANK YOU from management for working yourself to death. No one is permitted to take time off without pay and you are swiftly written up and chastised if you exceed your sick days (EVEN WITH A DOCTOR'S NOTE). Management does not provide any support, training or even counseling when you ask for help.
