Friendly people, good salary, but generally unrewarding
Pros
Rakuten Advertising has great people. Many of whom have stayed friends through the years. The salary is competitive. The hours are rarely very long and you are not overworked. Great benefits. Fun events. If you are positive, interested in learning more, and generally an intelligent and dependable person it is a pleasant place to work and you can stay for a long career.
Cons
The company is a bit top heavy with many Senior Managers, Directors, and VPs. Also, there is not much room for moving around this organization to work on different business lines because affiliate marketing is such a large part of the business. For example, you may start as an Account Manager in affiliate marketing and want to gain experience in other kinds of digital marketing which would be good for a career long term (there are several different channels in digital marketing) but chances are 5-8 years later (if you are there that long) you will still be doing the same thing - affiliate marketing. Overall Rakuten really is a good place, but this is a "con" to Rakuten in my opinion.
