Pros
I have been with Rakuten for a while to give my opinion. I’ve read some of the reviews and as a young female disagree. The company is about to unveil its market strategy after many months and years in the making. I love the people, my co-workers are wicked smart, and the company seeks the best and wants the best from its employees. The CEO has a passion for bringing the employees and the company to the marketplace and its contagious.
Working Environment
As we all have experienced the challenges of the “library” open space; Rakuten seems to take it up a notch. My favorite is hiding away in a great conference room or working on a treadmill when I need to get away from the desk. Then there are the desks that move up and down. IT seems to be always on call and services anything you need from a second screen to giving your customized laptop with all the icons you want loaded in your start up menu. The "club" environment is really cool. You can find anything of your common interests and the clubs are funded.
Culture
Rakuten is a startup in many ways but through acquiring 30+ companies has a blended culture that is evolving. I feel I am adding to the culture.
Bottom line
I love it here! I text all my friends about our chef’s gourmet daily menu (which he works hard to come up with Swiss Chard Strudel made with cabbage and mushrooms or the Vegetable Goulash with Tofu or the Grilled Ocean Trout with Fennel. The best is Sushi day! Deserves a Michelin star…….I am happy here.
Cons
Nothing really the job is amazing.
