Pros

All senior managers started as a consultant, they focus on development of their people and promoting from within. This is by far the best managed staffing company out there, structured and detailed leaders work hard to connect teams to the the big picture, the organizations vision and make every individuals contribution matter. Offers a good holistic comp plan when you factor everything in (benefits, share purchase plan, bonus, RRSP matching, tuition reimbursement). The best on boarding of any company in the industry. If you are going to choose the recruitment industry Randstad is the best, period.

Cons

Many other staffing firms have an uncapped commission compensation structure which can offer a higher ceiling in pure monetary comp then what Randstad offers. When you leave you realize that a very small few make the commissions promised. Once you hit management at Randstad you will earn more than at other staffing companies. It balances out but you have to stick to it. They are very large so sometimes it takes time to react to things the field needs BUT they are aware of this and working hard to fix.

Pros

The people, the compensation, the autonomy. The people and compensation: even after people leave, they stay in touch with their managers and have certainly built life long friends. We hire great people, provide support and training and whether they succeed or not, is up to them. The opportunity is what you make of it. Autonomy: we don't have micromanagement. You run your own sales desk. We will guide and measure but as long as you are showing effort and hitting clear expectations, you can chart your own adventure.

Cons

It's a competitive environment. It's friendly but everyone here wants to succeed; and wants to see our customers, consultants and company achieve! The way that I look at it, it's much better to deal with internal competition, where we have rules around fair play and you know what your competition is doing versus having us as external competition! Work/life balance, if you are in a sales role, for the first couple of years, there really isn't very much but it's offset by autonomy and a supportive infrastructure.
