Pros

It's been a few years since I worked at Rapattoni, but to the best of my ability here is what I recall: + Friendly co-workers + Relaxed work environment + Some opportunities for growth + Fairly generous PTO, especially for staff who made it to 5+ years + Holiday vacation schedule: 1/2 the company was gifted the week of Christmas of and the other half was gifted the week of New Year's off; this was not factored against one's vacation accrual (I still miss this one) + Willing to accommodate ergonomic work space requests + Provided modern equipment, especially to development staff + Made a smart move to utilize .NET framework + Detailed employee handbook + Maintained internal standards on a number of things, even how to write a document + Break rooms were well stocked with snacks and coffee + They Photoshop together a fantastic Christmas card

Cons

- If you didn't get in well with the top-most upper management you were pretty much SOL; many feared these individuals - Some shifty managers; sadly it was about who you knew or kissed up to - Bread and butter application was reliant on outdated (IMHO) Magic Software - Unable, or unwilling, to innovate solutions in a manner that retained customers - Went several years without providing raises to employees while owners respectively drove to work with a new Corvette (his) or Lexus LX SUV (hers) - Pay was not competitive - Micro-management

Pros

Rapattoni has been in the software business for over 45 years. When you think about it, that is pretty incredible. The reason it has not only survived, but thrived in such a competitive industry is because its founders, Andy and Niki Rapattoni always sought to innovate and had a great vision for the future needs of its customers.

Cons

Rapattoni has a culture of innovation and hard work. It's not a good place for those who just want a "day job" and a paycheck.

Pros

Relaxed environment, with managers who care about their employees well-being. Fairly easy access to upper management if an issue requires their attention. Fairly strong communication between departments. Great place to jump start a career in IT or Real Estate. Quiet office location outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Los Angeles or San Fernando Valley. Family-style environment, with birthday, wedding, and childbirth celebrations a common occurrence. Low turnover rate in the IT departments. Managers understand the value of leaving an employee alone to work and achieve their goals rather than obsessing over "metrics". In terms of work environments, it doesn't get much better than this.

Cons

Due to low turnover rate, it was somewhat difficult to advance my career beyond a certain point. - this may not hold true for all departments or employees. Occasional unclear department rules regarding communication with other groups. The office location may be too far of a commute for some. Salary could be considered not competitive but this is negotiable, I'm sure.
