Don't Do It

Pros

It will make you appreciate just about every other job you've ever had unless that job involved cleaning toilets.

Cons

This is not the company I started working for in 2007. At that time the job seemed to have a lot of promise and people were happy to work there. Over time, the most incompetent knuckleheads rose through the ranks and implemented the most soul-crushing work environment imaginable. To give you an idea how ridiculous it's gotten, you can't use the bathroom without asking permission, and they can and will deny you. I gaurantee the heartless swine running the place now lose no sleep whatsoever about the way they treat people.

Pros

The health package is one of the best I have ever seen. Pay is decent but could obviously be better. The hours were good, especially the overtime opportunities during bad weather events. They have contests for the employees and holiday parties. You walk through the door and as soon as you sit down, boom! Next thing you know, your shift is over and you have processed hundreds of alarms and saved people from a lot of grief. Yes, there is stress but you know what? At the end of it all, you are a better person for it. I only left because a business opportunity opened up, and this place made me richer for all I learned.

Cons

Bathroom breaks are metered to the hilt and the bathrooms fill up fast!

Pros

The best part of the job is going in at 7am so you can leave at 3pm and still have time left in the day to get other things done during regular business hours. Ability to pursue specialized certifications or learn Spanish (for the industry).

Cons

Breaks and lunches are so strict that if you are late (even by 60 seconds) you could end up suspended or fired. Employee morale is very low. If a pass is not available you must either wait 10 min to 1 1/2 hours to use the restroom or ask permission which is not always granted. Poor lighting, poor ventilation, less opportunity for advancement then advertised.
