Not what it used to be

Pros

Benefits are decent, relationships with colleagues typically always positive, friendly people, weather is nice.

Cons

Executive level and Senior level leadership is destroying what took so long to build. All the new leadership personel are external the last few years. RJ culture in the past promoted from within, but now we're a victim of our own success. We want to be running with the big dogs (Merrill, Wells, etc.) so what do we do? Bring in a bunch of folks from Merrill, Wells, etc. All, not some, all of these folks are incompetent and don't care at all about the culture. They just don't get it. They feel like they no better because they came from New York or Chicago and view RJ as a little southern firm that, bless our heart, is trying... Was RJ perfect prior to this shift? Absolutely not, but it was a good place to work. The culture is now dead. Not dying, dead. They have a convenient excuse, oh the pandemic, people are remote, it's changing the culture. Trust me, that ain't it. It's the new leadership. They're awful.

Good company, but unorganized, overworked, and outdated

Pros

Growing company. Wide range of options for investments and products with varying levels of sophistication. Good people and cool culture, and seems to be very flexible regarding remote work

Cons

Culture of overworking employees with no signs of improvement soon. The back offices are seriously understaffed. Although the company has had major growth in AUM, the staffing has not kept up with the growing demand for processing the increased workload. The aged technology makes everything more complicated than necessary. Management has surveys often, but little action is taken in response to widespread negative feedback, particularly a high number of employees reporting increased stress levels, and the company is far too slow to adapt. Employees at every level are too busy in day-to-day work to listen to input and address issues.

Pros

Good coworkers and good people.

Cons

Still not making what I was told was a reasonable ask upon being promoted 3 years ago. Zero understanding of staffing needs. Business ultimately decides on everything, including compliance.
