Pros

Passionate people who really care about open source technology. Able to progress with your own ideas if you build the right relationships with the right people.

Cons

Not always easy to progress with Career Development if not in a Head Office location.

Pros

Enormously bright people -- more than anything else, everyone is _proactive_ and professional. The work is challenging, you are rarely pigeon-holed (confined to only one type of work/role) and lots of room for growth and new ideas.

Cons

Red Hat is really, really political, especially on the engineering side -- sometimes, it almost feels like an academic atmosphere in that respect, which is good on the idea side, but bad on the political side.
