      Pros

      Benefits and overtime pay, when they pay you on time.

      Cons

      When I first started with related it was decent for enter level role into property management. About 3 months into my job, I noticed my manager would disappear without notice. The maintenance staff was horrible, they never completed work orders until weeks later, leaving the staff to deal with residents complaint. It became at hostile work environment due to the negligence from the property manager and regional manager. They also did not pay on time, I received checks in the mail that came back returned from the bank, which caused my account to be overdrawn.

      Smart Colleagues Interesting Projects of which you are given ownership Not overly cutthroat within the immediate group - people like to work collaboratively Great offices at Hudson yards Autonomy in your day to day tasks

      Cons

      Ruthless/not allowed to take no for an answer “The related way” Difficult to get promoted unless you are “in the club” yet raises only occur when you are promoted Salary on lower end of spectrum but opportunity for bonuses and equity in deals once you’ve “done your time” In office 5x per week - non negotiable (although senior execs have been remote many Fridays while still having the rest of team come in) Inflexible hours/time commitment Upper management does not appear to value employees - they may sit a floor away but it feels a world away 401k match isn’t great Related management company has constant turnover at property-level which makes it tough to do your job well in the development world

      Large institution Organized, but older systems in place Laptop / cell phone Gorgeous buildings!

      Cons

      Pay grades are low No stock / equity No remote work Small bonuses unless you’re developing and finding investors Everyone leaves after 1.5/2 years Very hierarchical from top down My VP had serious mood swings… never knew what mood they would be in.
