Not a great place to work.

Pros

The early stages when the marketing team was a startup were the best days of this company. Empathetic, caring people leading a team of professionals towards objectives. Now, it all went South. Since the IPO, it became clear to me that the company was losing its focus on the core values and mission. The good thing about the company was just that, and now it's just one more remittance entity. The new office is gorgeous and facilities help employees be happy. The pros are the great work they put out and how they used to support DEI a few years ago.

Cons

My experience: They will set you up for failure. If you speak up about it, they call you a complainer. If you stay quiet, you're not passionate enough. Things like that. When you try to go beyond your tasks and act as an owner for the benefit of the brand, you get flagged. It seems they prefer robots to humans. A lot of fake people pretending to care and to know the culture they were not born into. If you speak up about cultural relevance people doubt you. Begging to be believed about your own ethnicity is not the right environment to work in.

Mission driven, fast paced, and a great product!

Pros

Many places I worked at before claim to be mission driven but Remitly is the only place where I really felt we were truly making a positive impact to people's lives. Every transfer an immigrant sends back to their family members back in their home country helps them get a better life, and every penny or time saved by customers by using the product matters a lot. I think it's rare to work at a tech company you're proud to work for primarily because of the mission and impact. Company is fast paced and you can always feel challenged to do more and learn more!

Cons

It can feel sometimes like a hectic place that lacks focus but it's also the beauty of working in a fast paced environment.
