Pros

+ R&D had a more laid back atmosphere + Transition to smaller development teams allowed for better communication/interpersonal relationships + Good benefits and 401k matching + QA is a paid hourly and there are opportunities to receive overtime pay

Cons

- Company is too finance-focused, and looks more at the bottom line than employee satisfaction - Quality Assurance is lumped in with Engineering and, as such, gets the same treatment MINUS the actual engineering-level pay - And on that note: even Engineering doesn't feel like it is paid properly either - Never felt like I could really improve/go beyond my abilities - Promotion opportunities were NOT prevalent while being there for 3 years - Absolute struggle in the attempts at going to Agile--some teams were more effective than others, causing more issues than improvements overall to the software

Pros

Work/life balance is superb. We work hard and occasionally that can involve extra hours for weeks or months at a time until a deadline is reached. But before, during, and after that period we look out for each other including supervisors and senior management. Renaissance has very driven employees who are talented and cross functionally disciplined. They treat you like a person; not just a name and number. I heard a while back that the average length of tenure was nearly 10 years of employment. That's a long stretch in this era.

Cons

Working with talented people means you are expected to keep up. Expectations are high but we tend to embrace that and the synergy created with bright minds working hard is a pretty cool thing to see in action. The end result is delivering solutions that truly make a difference to millions of end users on a global basis. Over 60 countries using our products. Entirely cloud-based, digital solutions. And pretty nice to see that even Google Capital has invested in us!

Pros

Historically a very mission-oriented company though under recent private ownership after the founders left, the company has become more "commercial" though still less so than most companies, comparatively.

Cons

Not as much opportunity for advancement as I would have liked; they didn't promote quickly or across departments and made key or strategic hires from the outside, leaving those of us inside overlooked.
