We’re sorry that this was your experience at Renaissance and thank you for bringing up this issue. At Renaissance we take diversity, equity, and inclusion seriously and we’ve been working on implementing a variety of changes to help employees of color grow and develop their skills to move up in the company. For example, we’ve recently partnered with McKinsey to offer a leadership development program to our Black employees, we trained managers in how to avoid bias in performance reviews, and we have created Employee Resource Groups to help facilitate networking and mentorship opportunities across the organization. We understand that we still have some ways to go, but we are committed to ensuring that Renaissance is an equitable organization where people from all different backgrounds can succeed and thrive.” - Kim Mitchell, Chief People Officer

Pros

Working towards a more inclusive and aware set of values.

Cons

A relative of mine who was turned down for a position in Customer Assistance is now working remotely for a company that assists with higher education technology. She has been with the company less than a year, performing a fraction of what a CAR rep is required to know, and now makes at least $5-$8 more than a CAR rep at starting wage. Raises are also completed on a more regular basis than Renaissance's yearly practice. With the growing remote opportunities in similar fields, I wonder how Renaissance will compete with smaller companies who can offer higher pay to their employees.
