Pros
Not a bad place to start a career since there is upward mobility up to about Manager level. Beyond Manager level your opportunities are more limited. I found the work environment enjoyable at NECEL but of course that can vary department-by-department in any company.
Cons
NEC Electronics America is a regional headquarters of Tokyo-based company. You should be aware of this fact when you sign-on...most major decisions will be made in Tokyo and career advancement in regional headquarters are more limited. Also since this is not a US Publically traded company there may be some areas of job experience that are not available and could create holes in your resume when looking outside the company. The business future may be dim. I'm not sure how NECEL is doing these days but it's always best to join a company growing revenues and profits, not shrinking and all the consequences that go along with that as time passes...
