      Autonomy and support, but staffing challenges exist

      Pros

      Lot of autonomy within the role, you are directly responsible for the success of your business unit. There is a lot of support amongst your peers and coworkers. They pay fairly for the roles and most importantly if you are good at what you do, you will always have a job. Trash is one of the most recession proof business there is.

      Cons

      The biggest con / challenge can be staffing and trucks. If you are short people and trucks, it can make running an operation challenging. My advise to anyone going into this field is prioritize your people, treat them well, find a solid maintenance manager and partner with them daily to ensure trucks are being scheduled for necessary repairs.
