Pros

PTO, The amount you can obtain working for Covanta is outstanding. Coworkers - This is both a Pro and a Con, as they can both make your shifts easier for you or drive you to the point of going crazy.

Cons

Work - Life Balance, they say they are a family business, but that is a sham. Unless you use your PTO wisely you will spend most of your time working for the company rather than spending time with your family. Management is a joke at its very best. You can notify your superiors about problems all you want for months on end, just for them to tell you that its your fault and the problem doesn't exist. No Sick Time, You call off sick, its taken out of your PTO, and your docked a point, you come in late its taken out of your PTO and your docked a point, you leave early for being sick its taken out of your PTO and your docked a point. Coworkers - As stated in the Pros, this is both a Pro and a Con as they can make you or break you. Their Zero-Tolerance rule is nothing but a joke that they only implement when they feel like it. A former safety coordinator at the plant I worked at harassed me to the point that it made everyone else as upset as it was making me, and all management said was "She is only looking out for your safety", and I had a coworker who on several occasions told me that I should bite a bullet if I think I was "depressed" because there is no such thing as depression. And all they did was slap him on the wrist and allowed it to continue.

Reworld Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed thoughts and experiences. We also thank you and your family for being part of our company for generations. Retaining great people on our team is key to our success and ensuring that our employees are treated fairly/with respect in a safe working environment is a top priority. Our benefit plans include options that offer physical and mental health support to employees when needed, and we continue to improve on our offerings. Team members are empowered to stop unsafe acts or conditions through their Stop Work Authority so that any hazards may be immediately addressed and so we can learn from them. We also brought on a new head of safety in 2023 to elevate our processes/procedures and ensure that Stop Work Authority is being actively enforced. At Reworld™, we do not tolerate mistreatment of any sort and we strongly encourage employees to report such actions to their supervisor, human resources, and/or through our anonymous hotline at 1-800-267-7115. Receiving prompt, detailed information allows us to investigate and remediate any potential issues – and that benefits our employees, the entire team, and our customers as well.
