Years of deteriorating

Pros

Since Right invests little in product or employee development, they have to hire quality people and provide plenty of room for them to create and implement solutions for their clients. This works well for the talented consultants...you get great sales, project management support and administrative support. For many years we never had to worry about doing the right thing for our clients...we would always get support from our leaders. Despite poor leadership at the top for all the years I worked there, I still loved it until the last 5 years because there were great values and loads of autonomy.

Cons

Very "male" leadership company. Women (many great leaders) have not stayed at any level of management but the top is VERY male. If I was a client, I would not use Right for this reason alone. They don't seem to get it that decision-makers need to reflect our client base which is heavily female. We are a leadership company that has leaders at the top that are incredibly poor leaders. When they selected Bram for a top leadership position, it was clear that the values had really changed. Everyone below him knew what a horrible leader he was. Were those above him blind or did they really value his ethics and leadership style? At the field level, leadership jobs were designed such that only those willing to sacrifice their personal life had any time to lead and even then most were set up to fail. It was nearly impossible to achieve the financial results and provide leadership support to employees. Another reason not to join Right or use their talent management services is the lack of any sustained investment in product or employee development. I received almost no development and I as there more than 10 years. New products that were developed were developed in a vacuum with little market intelligence or by taking something that was developed for a particular client situation and "codifying" it on a shoestring to try to fit a broad client base. Worked poorly in almost every incident but we kept doing it that way for years...always following and seldom getting out in front to be real thought leaders. Although Right's downsides are part of the culture, there were always more things on the positive side to make it all work and many of us chose to say there for years. However, there is too little on the plus side anymore and all the negatives just keep getting worse so after many years I just had had enough. When even the quality of talent was deteriorating and there was no one to learn from and no development, it was time to leave.

Pros

None are in leadership, but there are truly some amazing, dedicated people employed here.

Cons

I have been with the company well over 10 years. Like any company, there was always some dysfunction. However, it has steadily been deteriorating (or decomposing) for a number of years. Cost cutting, reduced hours with increased expectations, and management that, generally, has nothing to do with the minions. There are serious employee engagement issues, which Right completely disregards. They know. They just don't care. Truly something you want to see from a human resources related service company. As bad as it seems, it isn't over. Not only is the culture terrible, but there have been, and continue to be, incredibly bad decisions being made about the direction of the business. The single thing Right had going for it was the quality (though not quantity) of service delivered to clients. That is not the case anymore.
