Pros

Great benefits and decent insurance.

Cons

You are only hired if you know someone. Very low chance of a raise or promotion. They have you do things way above your pay grade instead of promoting you. Give the you're too valuable speech so that the can pay you less. Employees snitch and gossip on each other. Who can get who fired. Forced strikes. It's a very close knit group. Plenty of room for advancement if you suck up to the right person.

Pros

Quality facility, with plenty of bed space. ED doctors for the most part work well with nurses and technicians. It is shift work, but generally will work with you with time off policies.

Cons

Complete mismanagement at the lowest level. Can't fathom how a nurse can overmedicate someone one day (at a dangerous level) and be Riverside's Champion of Caring (equivalent to the Employee of the Month) the next? Management is disconnected and crosses the line by using charge nurses as their management arm for everything from scheduling to personal information being shared; nothing personal is sacred or protected. Everyone knows your business in their little clicks. If I didn't need the job, I would have walked a while ago.

Pros

I truly enjoyed my job and the pace at which I worked. My co workers were often a great team and the care that we provided the community made my job rewarding.

Cons

The downside for this position was lack of funding and communication. While I understand working in a non profit organization, this was not my first, the pay scale was far from competitive, accomplishments were not acknowledged and it always felt as though management didn't have our team's "back". All of these things combined made it more difficult to do our best in an already high stress environment.
