Pros

Most labs have great funding and the resource centers are outstanding. Grad students are taken care of so far as research resources are concerned.

Cons

It's a crap shoot on whether you get a good thesis advisor. Some PIs are more than happy to invest in their students' professional (and personal) success. Others... not so much

Pros

Rockefeller has a nice student and post doc community with warm and collegial environment with some great labs to get solid scientific experience, great housing with apartments overlooking the East river

Cons

I can't think of any cons. It's located at one end of the city which may mean limited things to do around the area and limited transportation

Pros

I worled in the IT Dept for 10+ years. They are cutting edge in technology, no doubt. They have the financial resources to do so.

Cons

No chance of advancement. 10 years after working here, I'm doing advanced, challenging work, but also still doing all the grunt work I was doing on day 1.
