Pros

- The management is helpful and recognizes good work. - Great chances for job advancement, even encouragement from senior staff to do so. - Overall friendly and positive attitudes among coworkers. - Benefits for part-time workers (20 hours/wk +)

Cons

- Not a good place for you if you can't work quickly and efficiently at the same time. - Schedules are very random, although not necessarily in a bad way.

Pros

Like in all retail enviornments, you are in constant contact with a diverse group of customers and employees each with their own unique personalities. Relationships are quickly formed with co-workers as well as the local regulars. This is a great way to gains skills in customer service and money handling.

Cons

Have you been to a Ross on a Saturday morning?! Although most customers are compliant, you will run into a number of "bad apples" that neither respect you or the store. This, in addition to the massive amounts of merchandise on the sales floor, leaves the store in seemingly constant disarray. If you plan on working part time with a open schedule, be prepared to work just under full time hours with none of the benefits. Non-managerial or non-superviory positions start at minimum wage; plan accordingly.

Pros

Discounts are great, especially on a 40% off sales for employees, you can find some good stuff in the store for yourself.

Cons

Slave labor is what comes to mind. They don't schedule nowhere near enough people trying to save 8$ per hour on payroll. You're stuck doing enourmous amounts of work all by yourself, and expectations of you are as of some superhuman. The lines are increadiably long, people treat store and you like crap because its a discount store. You're supposed to get everything done in your area by 10 pm at closing, in reality night shift has to stay until 11-11:30 pm just to clean and get everything done. I wouldn't recommend anyone going for a temporary job at Ross, exept maybe loss prevention. Those guys have it EASY, 10$ per hour and virtually no work, just stay awake.
