Pros

Hands down the team I worked with was the best part of working at Rover. They are high functioning, intelligent, go getters with results that proved it. I am thankful for the skills I learned from them and will miss them dearly. Like many others, I was let go, and while many ex-rovers on here say Rover handled it poorly, I’d like to point out some facts - 6 weeks paid severance - 6 months extended health insurance through COBRA - PTO paid out for us hourly employees if it was available - if you took home some office equipment, such as chairs, stands, etc you kept those along with the MACBOOK AIRS you were given to work from home with - at no cost to us If just those points don’t scream how much Rover cares about their people I’m not sure what else would convince someone otherwise... unless you are still emotionally charged.

Cons

I didn’t always love working at Rover, and my biggest qualm is with how defensive my leadership got whenever I started poking holes or pointing out gaps in statements they were making. We were expected, by them, to wear lots of hats and deliver on things that may have been out of our knowledge scope or what we were comfortable with. My manager was inexperienced and never “pushed the needle” to make real change.

Pros

Dogs in office, smart people, innovative, office space, health benefits

Cons

It's hard to recruit top talent that is needed at this point in Rover's growth - very low pay, not competitive. It's also hard to close experienced candidates when there are currently tenured leaders at Rover who are in over their heads, unwilling to put aside egos. Lots of current talent being underutilized. Lack of vision and experience in some leadership positions but it is overlooked due to tenure. Feedback is "valued" but nothing changes at leadership level.

Pros

I've been at Rover for almost a year now, and absolutely love it. I am surrounded by highly intelligent, motivated people. No office politics, everyone is incredibly supportive and I am still blown away by the comradery and partnership. The dogs in office make even the driest topics worth it, everything is a little more fun and lighthearted when there are happy pups around! CEO is an awesome, genuinely cares about his employees. All around great place to work.

Cons

Pay is not the most competitive, and Rover currently doesn't contribute to 401k
