Pros

#1 thing: the data science team is over 50% women. That's, like, unheard of, and it's awesome. Other good things: * It's really 9 to 5. There's no expectation that'll you'll work long hours or weekends * All the dogs all the time * Everybody's nice and we all really want to see each other succeed * Respect for data and measurement at all levels of the business. The executives, from what I hear, have their backgrounds in analytics, so data science here feels like the axle around which the business revolves. * "Get everyone involved in creating the business narrative". Understanding the story behind the data is super important, and we are all encouraged to be a part of that. * No drama, no politics * No "tech bro" culture

Cons

The work: we use Periscope data a lot, and there's no autosave feature in their query editors, so all your work is lost if you accidentally refresh the page or hit backspace when you aren't in a text window or if periscope just feels like it needs a refresh and initiates one (this often happens when commuting; it's probably triggered by losing your wifi connection). The stocked stuff: The coffee isn't great, and they've just replaced all the Pilot G2s with Pentel Wows ("the cheapest pens that get the job done", as I was told) which I cannot stand to use. The space: the open-plan office is very distracting, but I guess open plans are kind of the norm, so that's not a Rover-specific gripe. What *is* specific to Rover are the goddamn dog gates everywhere. I also wish our office had better art, better windows, and better stair access---you have to go around to the loading dock at the back of the building if you want to come up by the stairs, so most days I just take the elevator and I've gained five pounds since starting here. HOWEVER, we've got a move to a new building coming up, so maybe some of these gripes will be addressed! If these all sound kind of minor, they are: overall Rover is great.
