Where to start…
They have zero training. Not one computer based module, no job duties descriptions, no training staff anywhere in this company. Not even a paper copy with a checklist of what you need to know. I was intentionally taught the wrong way of completing tasks because my direct report was afraid I was hired to take his job. No standard operating procedures. Everyone just “does things their own way”. They should be embarrassed.
I reported my direct report to HR and the HR MANAGER tipped him off that he was being investigated. When I said that should be a huge red flag for HR, I was told “that’s how they’ve always been.” So now there’s no one to go to when employees are being mistreated.
Salespeople are allowed to say, and do anything they want and be protected by the Area Manager even when they are failing and taking actions that would result in an automatic termination in any serious company. Half my job was calming down customers that hate their sales rep and being told by my boss that “I bet I could find 15 people that don’t like you, just like him” and “we want our salespeople to be like that.”
Zero accountability which creates a hostile work environment for everyone else in the building.
There is no documentation process to coach the staff up or out. Human Resources is nonexistent.
Everyone from the area manager and above positions have worked for the company for 20+ years and only have their jobs because of “loyalty” opposed to merit. The company is being ran by a group of people that know nothing about how the business world has changed over the years and employee expectations from their employers. They think the fact that it’s a Monday through Friday job they can lack at literally everything that the industry standard has built up to over the last decade.
