Pros

-You are valued for what you think and the work product you create. The work is rewarding. It requires you to think and learn. -You get to be the "good guy" recovering undue tax paid to ineffectively run governments and redistributing it to the client. -Salary and benefits are competitive. Pays 80 percent of your cell phone bill, tuition reimbursement... -Excellent work life balance. Work when and where you want to, just get the job done (depending on your manager that is)

Cons

-Over aggressive growth targets. Since 1991, Ryan has achieved a year-after-year growth rate of 20 percent. This kind of growth rate is unsustainable for any company. To continue sustaining the 20 percent growth rate, Ryan has acquired companies that do not align very well with its business model (e.g., Thompson Reuters Tax Compliance). The added debt from these acquisitions has caused Ryan's culture to suffer by adding more stress to bring in revenue. -The 5-year sabbatical benefit should be done away with. Upon reaching 5 years with the company, Ryan says it will let you take a 1 month paid sabbatical. The fine print however says you have to remain employed for one full year after taking the sabbatical, otherwise you will have to pay back the company one month's salary. And you also need to get executive level approval before taking the sabbatical. Just get rid of the sabbatical. It's not really a benefit when you have to jump through so many hoops to enjoy it. -No Christmas parties anymore, really? "Of all the cheap lousy ways to save a buck!" - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation -401k match is decent, but still a little weak

Pros

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a belief in if you work hard you'll be rewarded, then you'll like working at Ryan. I have been able to rise to a caliber that I never thought I'd be afforded due to the fact that I showed Principals that I am capable of getting the job done. If you like to stay in your own little "cubicle" and not attempt to work too hard or show others that you're NOT "in it to win it," then Ryan isn't the place for you.

Cons

Every company has cons, but I feel Ryan has very few. The biggest con is that the salary hasn't been reassessed to the cost of living increase. I have heard it through the grape vine, however, that they are evaluating this at the moment.

Not a great place to work

Pros

1. Expert in its field 2. Flexible working environment 3. Decent pay 4. Decent benefits package 5. Lucrative bonus structure 6. Ryan Pride - employee reward program

Cons

1. Management non-existence. Management does not know what is going on in the office and never attempts to build team spirit. Teams are disorganised. 2. Poor communication. Important news does not come from the official source but from the coffee corner. Instead, non-important news are communicated frequently. 3. Lack of vision. Ambitious to grow but huge cost control measures in place do not do the trick. No one clearly knows what the company strategies are. 4. Ryan is not attracting the best talent. The good ones have left and most of them are not being replaced due to a hiring freeze. The ones left behind are contemplating of leaving. The ones that are eventually hired are not as good as the ones left. 5. Bonus structure does not work entirely. Everyone is protecting their own interests and trying to pounce on every single opportunity to get more bonus, instead of putting customers first and helping the company to grow. Too much politics. 6. All support teams are poor. IT could not implement new applications/systems and blocks all zip files because they do not know how to cope with potential virus/malware issues. Finance keeps on messing up with invoice payments with invoices being months overdue. HR takes 3-4 months to hire a new/replacement personnel eventhough the candidate has already accepted the position. 7. Company is concentrating too much on how they are perceived in the media and within the industry. Pointless local awards, cherry-picked high client satisfaction scores and community outreach programs are cherished more than the employees. 8. Grim current working environment due to all of the above.
