Pros
Background: I began working at Ryan, LLC almost 5 years ago, right out of college. I'm a Senior Consultant in the Transaction Tax Practive (Sales & Use Tax).
- You can begin the job with minimal knowledge of tax and still do very well thanks to the collaborative team-dynamic, various training sessions and learning courses offered to you at all times.
- myRyan (our program for work-life balance) is what sold me from the very beginning and it has been everything I hoped for and more! The ability to work from home and take off when needed for vacation, appointments, general life/home maintenance makes me feel appreciated and respected as an employee. I'm so grateful to have a CEO and manager who understand and respect that we all have lives outside of work!
- You can take pride and comfort in knowing that your clients are happy to be working with you because your main goal is to save them money and help them as much as possible. In return, you receive a nice bonus and grateful clients!
- You receive compensatory bonuses based on the amount of money you save your clients. It gives your work more of a purpose and incentivises everyone to work in harmony to achieve the best results!
- Smart Casual Dress Code EVERYDAY! We recently received approval from our CEO to dress in smart casual attire (jeans and nice shirt) every day, with the exception of certain client visits here and there. Again, it makes me feel valued and appreciated as an employee that Brint Ryan listens to our requests and implements changes in a timely manner.
- There is no busy season, just busy weeks here and there, but your team is always there to help out and pick up slack when needed.
Overall, the work is challenging, but very interesting and rewarding. Taxes of all kind are very relevant and applicable to everyones' everyday lives so the knowledge you gain can be used in and out of the workplace.
Cons
- Sometimes myRyan can be misused. Although I haven't really experienced this as my team has always been very understanding and we all seem to be on the same page with regard to the myRyan do's and don't's, not every team is so lucky. It is important to keep in mind that if you feel like your team or manager is using myRyan incorrectly or unfairly, you need to speak with your team's principal or HR to explain your issues with it and brainstorm possible solutions.
- Sometimes bonuses can seem few and far between, but there are usually larger bonuses here and there that make the wait seem worth it.
