MyRyan saved me.

Pros

I, like many, am a single parent, but raised my child solely on my own. A friend found me a job at Ryan, LLC and it saved me. I had been juggling multiple jobs, to work around getting my son to & from school, and to allow him to have some extracurricular activities. I wanted to be there for him. This company took me on and has gifted me with managing my schedule, giving me the opportunity to be a present mom and a hard worker. In the past job-sharing is what helped people with restricted availability, but did not help if you needed flexibility AND full-time hours. I can not praise MyRyan enough. The founder, Brint Ryan, is a human and he makes you feel human too. For a global company, it has a family feel, a bit unheard of these days. 5 stars, no problem!

Cons

Not much room for advancement without a bachelor's degree. In my case, I have spent the time & money available to me to earn my associate's, so my options are very limited.

Pros

During my ten year tenure the company has grown by leaps and bounds and continues to demonstrate impressive growth. Everything is headed in the right direction. I should add that I have work experience that spans different companies and cultures but Ryan by far is the most rewarding, What I really like about Ryan is that there are so many smart people doing incredible things and being rewarded for their contributions. The firm leans forward into the market and seeks talented people to help achieve their lofty goals. They go out of their way to make accommodations for people with a flexible work environment that is truly unique. If you want an opportunity to be challenged in a flexible environment this is the place for you.

Cons

A flexible merit based program is not for everyone. Ask yourself what you want out of a career.

Pros

I spent about 2 years at Ryan out of college before going to the Big 4 for 5 years. I've now been back with Ryan for almost 8 years. What I experienced at the Big 4 was completely opposite of what I expected. Rather than working with or developing cutting edge issues, I was tasked with taking the most conservative approach or doing "Same as last year." There was never an incentive to improve the process or become more efficient, but always asked "How does Ryan do it?" Ryan's client roster is as good or better in many cases than the Big 4. Clients continue to ask for our help after the Big 4 has told them to just pay a tax or we can't fight this issue. Getting to work with world class clients' Finance and Tax Departments, staying on the cutting-edge of tax issues, unlimited earnings potential, flexible work arrangements will keep me at Ryan.

Cons

We are all driven by a competitive spirit and it can create internal tension.
