Pros

Ryder is a nationwide company with alot of opportunity for advancement. Multiple division allow for exploration of various components of the trucking industry including maintenance, sales, operations, and clerical and driver positions. The health insurance coverage is a good value. The employee discount for the stock purchase plan is very good. Ongoing training was provided and helpful.

Cons

Because Ryder is a large nationwide company there is a lot of bureaucratic red tape. Ryder has a very complicated commission compensation structure for commission sales employees. The customer relationship management software is also very outdated and the deal structure is overly complex.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are the only reason to work for Ryder.

Cons

You're a number and that's all. You're supposed to take time off to take care of personal matters. If you are unfortunate enough to have to drive over the weekend you might as well get ready for an exercise in futility trying to get fuel. All the shops are closed and with no credit-cards you are left to call emergency road service to get fuel.

Pros

Large company with losts of resources and product lines. Name recognition is very valuable. Good benefit package with industry leading technology. Acess to fortune 500 clients and valuable industry recognized experience make working at Ryder a must have for your resume. Education assistance is also available but requires a commitment to the company.

Cons

Lots of over head make pricing high. Dedicated overhead is high because of captive equipment provider. Over all over head structure is high and must be passed along to clients when pricing deals. Pressure to deliver numbers in a bad economy can be a challenge.
