Pros

Ryerson treats employees fairly and therefore the retention rate is high. Great upper management team who makes you feel as if you work with them not under them.

Cons

Too many crossovers in sales territories so you feel like you step on toes at times while trying to do the best job you can for the company.

Pros

Vast network that is always growing. More products then most of the competition. since being around since 1842 they are staple in this industry. management will see to it that you are trained and by the end of it you will be comfortable selling all 70,000 products. Pay is above average but if the market is good you are able to make a lot. great benefits.

Cons

so many variables go into completing an order that sometimes there will be a hitch. customers can get mad when deliveries aren't made. no matter the job you will see problems like this.

Great Place to Work

Pros

Hard work gets noticed and rewarded. If you have the right attitude and drive, you are going to find success. Supportive managers who coach and mentor. Most people are friendly and easy to get along with. Pay and benefits above average. Tend to promote from within the organization, lots of opportunities for advancement (especially if geographically mobile).

Cons

Slow moving organization, lots of initiatives to promote new ideas run into wall of long-time employees who have little interest in adapting. Some locations have bad reputations.
