Pros

Working with kids can be rewarding, until you’re entirely burnt out

Cons

Horrible pay. You find out what school you’ll be working at literally two days before you start the job, so finding housing to minimize your commute is totally impossible. The focus on test scores and data is incredibly draining and often leaves you feeling defeated and hopeless. Men have to wear a tie everyday because that’s the best way to earn the respect of a child. That said, I often feel like a baby sitter more than anything else

Pros

Gives you an opportunity to affect real change for your caseload of students. It also gave me the confidence to pursue a career in education

Cons

You are asked to do a bit more work than you anticipated when you accepted the offers. That said, it's manageable

Pros

Part of a good professional network. Good place to start in education, or as a gap year

Cons

Upper management demonstrates some lack of concern for fellows
