Pros

SAIC provides excellent compensation and benefits package. They really know how to take care of their employees. They provide tuition reimbursement, auto insurance discounts, and are even trying out a new student loan repayment service. They also provide you with training if you actively seek it. While the pay is great, you're also able to work on cutting edge technology projects. The environment in my current office is very laid back though everyone is very knowledgeable about their respective subjects. People at SAIC seem to be very devoted to getting the job done. It may just be the team I work with, but there is a common sense of devotion to the project.

Cons

There is plenty of red tape in this organization. Though this seems to be the case in many government contracting businesses, it seems to be more prevalent in this organization. It seems as though administrative tasks that should take a day end up taking a week, two, or three. There are also countless meetings and teleconferences that don't provide any real value. The organization seems to promote a conservative undertone, which may not be the best place for a young progressive to start their career. It seems to take an act of God to get money approved for new contracts.

Pros

Lots of openings. Ability to move about. Seems to be something for everybody. Overall pay is not bad, in general. Every office and division is different, some better than others and vice versa.

Cons

Losing a lot of good people due to lack of communication and direction. Some substandard development due to tight and usually constricting timelines and budget (welcome to the contractor world). Senior management does not provide good vision and direction, seem more interested in the bottom dollar than keeping and building good teams. Lack of incentives to further education and professional knowledge. Lack of reward for doing a good job.

Pros

Fairly good benefits and time off, somewhat flexible work schedule.

Cons

Stodgy atmosphere with lots of small, compartmentalized groups. Everyone works on different projects with little collaboration or interaction with others.
