Pros

SAM is a very competitive, forward-thinking company. The owner invests in the newly developed R&D department to help keep us on the front lines and cutting edge of the industry, which is a rarity in the land surveying industry. I have not witnessed the "good ol boy" system here that I have read about in other reports. This is a very fast moving and competitive company which is hard for some to handle, which may be the cause for some of the negative reviews.

Cons

Company recently sold 60% ownership to Austin Ventures. This is not necessarily a negative if the company keeps moving in the upward direction. SAM has done a great job with keeping the company environment the same, however, there will always be changes with mergers and acquisitions such as this.

Pros

Very intelligent and innovative workforce. Management encourages you to use your talent and skills to improve the processes and work environment. I do not see a good ole boy network; I do see a lot of very talented and capable men and women working hard to grow the Company and to continue to take care of all employees from the newly hired to the long-term tenured staff. Very competitive salary and benefits. No micro-management. Family-friendly activities are offered along with a very positive outlook on work-life balance.

Cons

Open up more opportunities on promoting from within. The free fruit in the break room is wonderful but it would be nice to change it up a bit to offer what is in season!
