Pros

Benefits, flexibility, work life balance, on-campus amenities, and in my job the workload is reasonable and management is easy to get along with. Beautiful campus! Turnover is low, lots of loyalty to the company. Privately owned, so no pressure from stockholders, management can run the company based on corporate goals rather than responding to stock prices, resulting in a lot of stability.

Cons

Some jobs here come with a high stress level. Sometimes open positions don't get approval to be backfilled, resulting in others taking on a very heavy workload. Some people have been here for 20+ years, which is good. There's a lot of loyalty, but it can result in people being stuck in the way they do things, less innovation than you might find with more turnover. Also results in fewer opportunities to move up the ladder. Hard to get hired!

Pros

cafeterias, gym, healthcare, child care (once you've been there for about 3 years). The company benefits are excellent. The building are new and beautiful. The Cary campus is wonderful.

Cons

out of touch management - I worked in the Sas solutions on demand group (SSOD) , and it's very different from what you hear about SAS. You are expected to work 50+ hours per week, many times through the night without any time off the next day. There is no work/life balance, like the older parts of SAS have. This division is run completely differently from the rest of the company. No one from the rest of the company will move into this department, and it's commonly spoken of as a "sweat shop." Even if you use this as a foot in the door to the company, there's no guarantee that you'll get to move to another division, even after you have served the required year in this division. SAS is a great company, but they have really fallen down on this division.

Pros

Good health, retirement and if you live in Cary free associated benefits. Lots of training programs in SAS , etc.

Cons

SAS does not work well with disabled employes, management does not know the environment nor their people. People who have worked at SAS are not well connected to understand how to work together as a team
