Don't expect to come in from another employer and be respected or valued for your unique and/or differing perspectives and ideas. You have to start as an intern to achieve that.

Pros

Most people care about the company and the mission. Generally talented people to work with and oppotunity to move around the organization and learn.

Cons

Decisions are made at very high level on small things, and big things are not decided on. Higher level management tends to set goals but not strategies to acheive them, delegating that to the middle management, but then not empowering them to put the strategic plan into action.
