Pros

Ok Benefits for a Private Company. The long time leadership recognizes that downfall of hiring so many outside leadership from PepsiCo, Kraft, Unilever and other for profit companies has come with a huge change in our culture. Maybe they will not keep retiring but stand up and be heard. Be the voice for the blue collars at SCJ.

Cons

New management is changing the culture too much. Even the CEO has been communicating that layoffs will be the norm for this company. That was once something that stood out for this company. They considered the little people not just the high paid management that can do damage at SCJ and then move on to many other jobs after causing collateral damage at SCJ. I want to believe that the CEO has no clue what is going on. If he does know and is empowering the Good Ole Boy's Club to make radical changes like they have been then Shame on YOU! There is no difference working for this company verses another CPG. Don't take the offer if you are considering working here if it is all about a high offer. YOu will not be happy. You will be stuck for two years or have to pay your sign on bonus back if you leave. It is a horrible feeling to be stuck at this new culture company. What you read about the history is true...this is a wonderful company that stood out from all others. The family was involved with the workers and that is what made the employees trust in the company and have loyalty to their jobs. No you will be a number and no one will care about you. The onboarding process is to just leave you to figure it out. I have seen some people get connected with great mentors and excel and then others just flounder because no one helps them to connect to the people they need to partner with to do their job. It is really, really bad. I wish I could say that this is still the great company that I grew up with in our community but it is not. I cant wait to hear that they are going they are going to move the whole company to Mexico. I am sure that is coming next. So they can reduce costs of the production teams and the upgrade of an outdated plant here in WI. So sad that this company has become al about money and no longer cares about ALL its employees. Only the ones who are in leadership cutting jobs.

Pros

Nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing

Cons

Requesting all please don't join this torturous and horrific company. They never support the resource and no work from home and no work life balance. HR's are dumb and they along with leadership harasses any employee who they don't like. Leadership targets employee and corner them for no reason and make them suffer and make them resign. in recent past many left the organization. Age old management discriminate a resource and suffer them to meltdown and enjoys their sadistic pleasure. They don't care how much you contribute, they just go by their age old rules and applies them differently according to their wish. People with health issues please don't join this company. You will definitely suffer and you will either become bedridden or end in ER. Better join this company as vendor rather than full time. Being full time you don't get anything more then just suffering. At any cost they want resources to be present in office, minor exception to their beloved resources. They don't care regarding your safety, health, family. You are forced to work beyond hours min 14-18 hours. How this a very bad company is best work place and top employer, totally false information is being spread online.

SCJ - Not Your Family Company

Pros

Good benefits, 401K match and profit sharing 2x/year, Company Store with discounted products (limits to what you can buy though). For those in Racine, there is availability to Armstrong Park (gym, tennis courts, child care at extra cost).

Cons

I’ve worked at SCJ for many years and sadly have seen a great decline in moral since COVID return to office earlier this year. Granted, everyone is going through a lot these days but the added pressures at work are not making it any easier. It seems like the company is doing the bare minimum to be able to have all employees back in the office. True, there was a lot of work and money put in to the facilities to make them covid ready. So ready, in fact, they tried a couple of times to get everyone back to the office. Of course it was rushed so thankfully got pushed back. Everyone did return to strict guidelines of masking, temperature checks, social distancing, etc. Quickly the guidelines were released; the only guideline left now is temp checks, which is a joke as you watch people walk right by without temp checking! Masking is only mandated for those unvaccinated so in theory, everyone is vaccinated because no one is masking (except at the campus’ that are required to do so based on city mandates). With the current covid levels in Racine, one would think there would be some sort of communication/direction from management but no. If you ask what the company is doing, the direction is ‘do what’s best for your family.’ But if you think working from home is best for you/your family, think again - return to office means everyone in the office. You can request an exception but they are rarely approved. It’s especially difficult on parents but there is no flexibility, everyone must be in the office. There used to be communications about covid positive employees, not who, of course but what floor they were located on, if an area needed to be cleared and what was being done to disinfect the area but that transparency has been covered up. Now, for any covid positive, the medical center* is supposed to inform close contacts but with everyone back in the office, it’s impossible to know who those people would be. Also, for those not vaccinated, don’t wear masks and do get covid, how are we supposed to trust they will take a test to prompt a positive result thus prompting the medical office to contact those in close contact? If you have been exposed to covid and need to quarantine, call the covid hotline and be told if you’re asymptomatic, come to the office. It’s infuriating and incredibly unsafe. Reach out to HR, senior management? The answer is the same, don’t bring it up, nothing is changing. *the medical office is no longer run by the company doctor because he left unexpectedly before employees began returning to the office. Perhaps he wasn’t in agreement with the return to office or protocols? There’s been a company doctor overseeing the medical office for decades but there’s been no communication that he left or any information on a replacement.
