      A unique family company becoming more like everyone else

      Pros

      Great benefits such as top notch day care center, great maternity and paternity (yes!), on-site gym, telecommuting policies, summer hours (work enough hours Mon-Thu, take Friday afternoons off), competitive compensation, etc.

      Cons

      In recent efforts to improve efficiency, what used to be a very unique family company culture is being eroded by incoming top executives from top CPG companies who push the SCJ to be competitive. Long commute for Chicago area employees.

      Thanks for sharing your perspective. We definitely want to keep the unique traits that make SCJ a special place. We have to be competitive to ensure SCJ is around long into the future. But we hear you on the importance of finding a good balance.

      Pros

      A+++++++ company to work for Outstanding benefits VERY caring and nurturing culture for corporate American SCJ literally bends over backwards to take care of their employees in every aspect possible

      Cons

      Its corporate America, you have to be able to stand the heat in the kitchen and be prepared to track, attack and execute targets that are constantly moving or in some cases, even invisible.
