Pros

Benefits and perks. Salary is good. Known as the golden handcuffs. I would say profit sharing but they just essentially took that away from Managers

Cons

Good old white boy’s club. If you don’t fit the mold, you’ll never get promoted beyond manager. They do not value education, leadership is threatened by higher educated people of color and women. Set up to fail if you have potential that threatens current leadership. Not organized, no shared information across regions or divisions. Hold on to non-productive employees. Non-scientist leading scientific divisions. Marketers run the show but rotate every 6 months so there is no continuity with the business, RDE, and regulatory.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We're disappointed this has been your experience at SCJ. Being an inclusive culture is very important to us, as is collaborating effectively across the company and around the world. We value the contributions of all SCJ people. We take the feedback received here seriously and hope you feel heard. You may also consider contacting our compliance hotline at scjohnson.ethicspoint.com with concerns.

Pros

Started out as a great company with excellent people, benefits, and quality brands. Hard working productive employees were rewarded for dedication and performance.

Cons

the last 5 years of my 33 year career with SCJ I saw a large decline in the success of new products. The Trade no longer respected SCJ. Reorganization resulting in the first time massive layoffs of long term employees that had worked to build scj. Workloads that were not manageable, and an HR department that was clueless. Top management changed as did the philosophy of the company. Scj went from being an outstanding company to work for to a mediocre one. No loyalty on either side anymore.

Thanks for writing. We’re sorry to hear your final years at SCJ left you feeling disappointed. You’re right that there’s been a fair amount of change lately. But there are things we don’t ever want to change, like our drive for innovation, being a thought leader with our partners, and treating people with respect. They’re a key focus, and we’re coming out of our period of change with good momentum. We appreciate you sharing your perspective as we keep learning and growing.

Pros

Only positives are some of the wonderful benefits that amazingly still exist.

Cons

Morale! Understaffed, overworked, and undervalued. Upper mgt. Constantly looking to finger point - while putting on a façade of caring. The company is still riding on the shirt tails of past reputation.

First, thank you for writing a review. We know 10+ years is a long time to give to any employer, and we appreciate it. It sounds like you’re pretty frustrated, too. It’s true there are some areas in the company that have seen changes and where morale is still coming back. We want to make sure we get to the right place, where people feel valued and feel like their ideas and experience matter. We’re sorry you haven’t been feeling that. We’ll pass your advice along.
