Pros

1. Great and capable people 2. Company's history

Cons

For five generations SC Johnson has been kept as private enterprise. Every generation has made personal sacrifices in the name of the keeping the Company a family household. From the entrepreneurship of Samuel Curtis, to the innovation of HF Johnson and the business savviness of Samuel C. Johnson. Unfortunately, the current generation has lost his direction. Excessive greed and needs for profits have derailed the spirit of this once Great Company to work. I was privileged to see the great work of people that take it to top 10 Companies to work for 10 years in a row. For the last 7 years, the Company has slide out of the rank. Talented people left for fighting a transformation to shrink value in exchange for short term profits. If you want to transform a Company, replace its management. And so they did. In the process, they have lost engagement, discretionary effort and trust. I do appreciate all 15 years I spent at SCJ. I learned from great leaders, I traveled the word and I did my best to contribute. Unfortunately, that's not the Company SCJ is anymore.

Pros

some perks - profit sharing (though new hires get 2 token checks before you see any real bonus which means 1 year wait until full participant in profit sharing). Amenities are good, gym, cafeteria, & offsite access to recreation center (but comes with compulsory membership fee regardless of usage)

Cons

Advancement opportunities are slow, far and few between. Transparency in hiring practices from recruiting and hiring teams is nominal at best. If you don't know someone or participate in the right cliques you're not going to advance quickly or at all. Work life balance is not prioritized even though it is espoused as a value.
