Pros

Large healthcare provider organization with great teammates that care. Highly respected senior leadership. New and beautiful workspace in Birmingham Corporate office.

Cons

As a relatively new company, solid foundational items are not all in place to permit growth without herculean efforts.

Pros

Paid holidays, careful consideration when hiring makes for a good floor team, PRO decent, some flexibility in hours, teammate satisfaction surveys give employees opportunities to voice concerns

Cons

I love working for SCA. I Have dedicated 5 years of service. My only issue is pay and benefits. Our insurance changed this year. My choices were to pay more than twice the original premium ( which as I researched online found that it was the same price as getting my own private insurance) or to choose the option of an extremely high deductible plan for which I will be responsible for 100% percent of all expenses until it is met. I am being forced to decide whether my children are sick enough to warrant Dr. Visit, or if they are in enough pain to visit the dentist. I've had health issues this year and I'm paying thousands to take care of this (yes I also pay 110 per paycheck for the ins that doesn't kick in until 4 thousand deductible is met). My annual raises are so minute that I'm literally making LESS money than I was when I started when u figure in insurance. When I complained I was told it was like that everywhere because of Obama care but I have since researched this statement and found it to have been false. And don't think that I am a lazy employee who is not worth the money. I have been told repeatedly what an asset I am to the company. I went to nursing school to make a better life for my family yet I struggle to get by and to get my kids the Healthcare they need. It is frustrating.

Pros

SCA is an innovative company that seeks to be the best in the industry. It is a company of growth that pushes the teammates to a high standard. Running lean and pushing continuous improvement enables teammates a larger scope of responsibility that they wouldn't receive at a more structured organization. The problem is that teammates who don't want the broad scope of responsibility are forced to accept it regardless.

Cons

SCA runs lean in most departments/lanes, creating a difficult environment for the lanes that are not allowed to grow alongside the company. SCA's leadership has blind spots and this creates unfortunate consequences to those within their blind spot. As a company, they have become so hyper-focused on their upper-level talent, they have lost sight of their talent at the staff level. This has created an environment of "us" vs "them" and high turn-over. Unless your one of the lucky lanes - don't expect work-life balance at this company.
