Pros

The greatest benefit of being an intern with the SEC is that you get the rare opportunity to look at the entire financial industry from a birds-eye view. I had no idea what I wanted to do until after the Agency walked me through several careers across all financial industries.

Cons

Interns don't get much work unless you ask for it. Very easy to not do anything all day if you keep your mouth shut.

Pros

Excellent student loan repayment program. One can receive up to $60,000 in tuition reimbursement. SEC offers the generous benefits of the federal government while encourage private sector thought.

Cons

The compensation is probably the most difficult factor regarding the transition from private sector to the SEC. Employees often take significant pay cuts to work at the SEC.

Pros

This is a great place to work, especially early on, as it allows you to gain experience in a supportive environment. The work life balance is also very strong

Cons

The bureaucracy and red tape can be somewhat of a struggle to adjust to. It can take a terribly long time to do things that should seemingly be very straightforward.
