Almost every aspect of working for SG is below par.

Little focus on code quality, and very little quality assurance. Juniors sign off other junior's code without really checking it. No effort to modernise old codebases. Managers just want to milk a dried up cow. Modernisation efforts should have begun a long time ago, but don't even seem to be in the planning stages now. This means that codebases just become more and more unmaintainable, and cost a lot of time and resources, just to push the simplest change. Hey, it's gambler's money/mortgages being wasted here! So who cares. Arrogant senior developers that act more like juniors. I mentioned a potential injection vulnerability issue during training and the senior developer training us was just rude and patronising, and not interested in anything I had to say. I tried to explain to him that modern frameworks (like Django) do serialization when constructing URLs (rather than just a string formatting hack), but he wasn't interested, and perhaps insulted, as maybe it was him that wrote the crappy code. The training was embarrassing. The framework was called the 'secure framework', suggesting its predecessor was anything but! Had lots of colds/flus in a short space of time, and played it safe by taking a few days off here and there when I had symptoms (what with the worldwide pandemic). This was flagged by the computer system, which meant that I had to go through a very stressful 'back to work plan'. I was already struggling at the time with the unusual amount of winter bugs I picked up this year, so this was just unnecessary stress, which triggered me to start looking for my next job. There are so many other bad experiences I could write here, but it's perhaps best to leave it at that.
