The department managers switch every few years

The range of technical knowledge among co-workers is off balance. You could work with a genius or you can work with someone who has no idea what they are doing and most likely should not even work there with you. Personal growth and furthering your skills in your career can become stagnated. This is a place to retire your ambitions for your career. People who work the shop floor are considered to be replaceable at least that how it feels. Management changes occur every 2 to 3 years. So you may have a great manager and they will move on to further their career while you are stuck in the same position. Shop level employees have to jump thru hops to get a raise or a promotion. They will under pay you for your position if you allow them to. If you come on as a contractor, they may string you along and not hire you fulltime unless you threaten to leave. They will move you around and have you learn and gain experience on a bunch of tools and products without any mention of compensation or a plan of action for career advancement. If you want a raise you will basically have to beg or put on a presentation. You might go a week or two with little to no work to do while at work. No overtime. UNLESS! See making revenue is really important to them and some managers will push you to get tools out at the last minute.
